How Kinetic-ID Helped Croydon Health Services Cut Downtime and Improve Rounds

In this short case study, we outline the benefits Croydon Health Services has enjoyed working with Kinetic-ID to source replacement medical carts.

The Challenge

Croydon Health Services needed to refresh the medical carts in the trust as they had many reliability issues. Similarly, several carts didn't have any lifting functionality to facilitate height adjustment for different staff. As part of the upgrade process they also looked at the possibility of retrofitting some of the existing cart fleet. They also had suboptimal laptops on wheels, which they needed to decommission.

When the audit of the existing fleet revealed that most of the carts were nonfunctional, Croydon Health Service secured the necessary funding to upgrade the existing stock. Rather than undertake a like-for-like replacement, they took advantage of advances in product design to source a much better-quality cart.

The Solution

The ID-Flex 3 with integral Kinetic-ID Pod system has been designed to ensure the user has maximum access to the cart by improving and increasing run times and almost eradicating downtime caused by misuse or component failure. By doubling the performance of the battery per Kwh of power, Kinetic-ID can effectively half the amount of electricity used to provide the required level of run times. The Eco-Charger system also has a huge impact on carbon footprint, typically reducing overnight usage by 90%.

Finally, in terms of maintenance the ID-Flex 3 infection control is an integral part of the design:

All of our products have been designed with infection control in mind and draw from more than 50 years of experience in medical cart design. All our products use materials that can be cleaned with all standard hospital bleach-based cleaning liquids.<div class="author">Andrew Daly, CEO, Kinetic-ID</div>

The Comprehensive Warranty

One element that was particularly pleasing to Dealhoy was the extensive warranty that came with the carts. The five-year warranty from the date of the last cart's delivery helped affirm Kinetic-ID's commitment to quality and confidence in the robustness of its cart offerings.

“We have Kinetic-ID Carts in use since 2019 and we are extremely happy with how they have performed. By using carts with swappable power PODs, this has dramatically reduced the downtime to virtually zero ensuring a high level of confidence in them from both users and support staff perspective.”<div class="author">Adam Dealhoy, Snr Project Manager, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust</div>
